About Edexcel IAL Business past papers

This page holds 73 question papers and 75 mark schemes for IAL Business, covering 24 exam sittings from 2015 to 2025. Every paper is free to open, with no account and no download limit, and each one sits beside its mark scheme so you can mark your own work the way an examiner would. The most recent sitting here is January 2025.

The units covered are U1, U2, U3, U4, P1 and P2. Papers appear under more than one specification code — WBS11, WBS12, WBS14, WBS13, WBS01, WBS02 and 8BS0 — because the qualification has been revised during this period. Older papers remain useful: most of the subject content carries over, and the extra practice is worth more than a tidy archive. Each paper is labelled with its own code so you can see which generation it belongs to.

Papers here come from the January, May, June and October series — about 2.2 sittings a year across the 11 years covered, which is why there is usually a recent paper available whichever session you are entered for. The fullest sitting is January 2025, with 4 units, which makes it a good place to start if you want a complete set to work through.

Revising Business

IAL Business is assessed across four units, with the later ones expecting you to bring in material from the earlier ones.

Application is everything. The theory is not difficult and most students know it; the marks separate out according to who uses the specific business, its figures and its circumstances in the answer.

Units 3 and 4 are synoptic in character — they expect you to draw on the whole course and to reach a supported judgement. Practising those papers with the clock is essential, because the writing volume is the real constraint.

Quantitative questions are reliable marks. Make sure ratio analysis and investment appraisal are automatic rather than things you work out from first principles in the exam.
